The Vaquita
is one of the smallest of all cetaceans, and is rarely
viewed in the wild. There is a dark patch around the
eye, and dark colouring around the mouth, from where
a dark stripe extends to the flipper. The dorsal fin
is triangular and has a combination of bumps and whitish
spots on its leading edge. The body colour is grey,
dark above but lightening on the sides, with a pale
grey/white belly. The Vaquita measures 1.2-1.5m in length,
and is thought to weigh a maximum of 55kg.
