Tokara Description
The Tokara is a small, light horse from Japan. They have been valued by the Japanese for several hundred years, and have greatly aided them in war, transportation, and industry. It is a great riding horse, and can perform just about any labor it is assigned to. They are mostly used for farming, transportation and to process sugarcane. It has a good temperament, and does well in just about any environment. They are known for their endurance and ability to survive in severve weather conditions and on little amounts of food. Relative to their bodies, the Tokora has a large head that lies low to the body. This gives the Takara an interesting profile, with narrow legs and a wide top. They have long, thick manes. The are most often colored bay, brown, chestnut, roan or cremello. They will occasionally have white markings on their face and legs, but almost always have a dorsal stripe. They also have very tough hooves.
