The Comtois
is a fairly heavy draft horse that is has been primarily
used as a work horse. It is a very hardy horse and capable
of surviving in harsh mountain climates. Unfortunately,
it is also popular as a meat. Even though it is relatively
small in size, The Comtois is very muscular and is quite
stocky with a long back and strong legs. Its head is
large and it has intelligent eyes. The ears are small
and perky. The mane and tail is thick and are light
in color and can be seen in a variety of chestnut. Their
coat coloring is often quite dark, almost chocolate
brown or bay.
