American Saddlebred Description
The American Saddlebred is an intelligent, fun, friendly horse that is primarily a show horse. It has an elegant gait and is comfortable to ride. The American Saddlebred has an elevated action when walking, trotting, or cantering. Its long hooves are usually shod with heavy, padded shoes. The legs are long and light and it neck is high. Its tail is usually set high, often by cutting the ligaments at the root of the tail. This practice is going out of style and more owners and trainers are using false hair to achieve the affect. All coat colors are possible. Its life span ranges from the late 20s to early 30s.
