The American
Mammoth Jackstock Donkey is also known as the Jackstock.
It is the only American breed of donkey and it is also
the largest. The Jackstock is a work mule of great size
and strength. The Jackstock is quiet, has a gentle nature,
and is good in performance and intelligent. They are
a peaceful, loving animal, with an attitude much like
a dog. They are easy to train and ride. Some Jackstock
have very long ears, reaching three feet in length.
They have long necks and typically thicker than those
of horses. The eyes are large and round. Their heads
are generally straight with Roman noses. Most Jackstock
are black or red, but there are dapple and roan variations.
Other less common colors are white, gray, brown and
spotted.
