 |
 |
| |
The Akhal-Teke
is one of the world's oldest breeds. It was developed
in Tukmenistan, a part of the former USSR. It is a strong,
hardy, handsome horse that is known for endurance, and
especially the ability to withstand extremes of drought,
heat and cold. It has been known to be stubborn, willful
and difficult, but can form close bonds with its owner,
in a way that is similar to dogs. The neck is straight,
long and rather thin and has a handsome, elegant head
with large expressive eyes and lovely ears that are
highly mobile. Its body is longish with long, strong
legs. The mane and tail are soft, but rather thin and
sparse. It can be seen in different shades, but golden
sheen is the most prized color. |
