The Wirehaired
Pointing Griffon is a strong and graceful, medium-sized
hunting dog. It has a large, long head and square muzzle.
It has a beard and mustache and thick, soft, bushy eyebrows.
It has a rather long neck and its large eyes are elliptical
with brown or yellow irises. It has a mild expression,
but it lively. Its pendant, medium-sized ears lie flat
and close to the head and its nose is always brown.
The body is a bit longer than it is tall and its limbs
are vigorous and muscular. It has straight front legs
and the feet are rounded with webbed toes. Its coat
is straight, hard, and wiry and is lined with a fine
but thick downy undercoat. Coat texture varies depending
on the percentage of wiry vs. soft hair. Coat care and
the type of dog food can also effect the texture of
the coat.
