The Irish
Wolfhound is a massive, muscular dog and one of the
tallest breeds in the world. It can reach the size of
a small pony. When it stands on its hind legs, the Irish
Wolfhound can reach up to 7 feet tall. Its coat is rough
and shaggy and it has wiry, bushy eyebrows. Its paws
are round and large with arched toes that have strong,
curved nails. Its head is long and it has a moderately
pointed muzzle. It has a muscular, arched neck. Its
chest is very deep and it has a well-retracted abdomen.
It has strong shoulders. The Irish Wolfhound gives the
appearance of strength and grace. Its tail hangs down
with a slight curve. The ears are carried back against
the head except when the animal is excited, when they
may prick up part-way.
