The Ibizan
Hound is also called Podenco Ibicenoco. It is an agile,
deer-like, elegant and athletic hound. It has a long,
arched neck and a long wedge-shaped head. It has very
large, amber colored eyes and triangular ears that stand
up when the dog is alert. It has exceptionally healthy
teeth. Its nose is rose or flesh-colored and has a slightly
convex shape. Its body is fine-boned, but not as slender
as many of the other sighthounds. The Ibizan Hound has
flat, sleek muscles without any heaviness and its front
legs are perfectly straight all the way from the elbows
to the ground. It is "hare-footed", with long
toes. There are three types of Ibizan-smooth haried,
long haired, and wire haired. The most common is the
smooth haired and the rarest is the long haired. The
wire-haired has a longer coat that of rough hair that
is a softer textured than the other two types.
