Differing
from the English and Irish setters, the Gordon Setter
is more robust in structure, has a more massive head,
and more full, developed lips. It also differs from
the English and Irish setters by the color of its silky,
wavy coat. It is the only black and tan setter. It is
tall and slender and has a feathered coat. The head
is long, chiseled and massive with a very pronounced
stop and a large-nostrilled black nose. Its muzzle is
squared off and not pointed. Its ears are long and slightly
pointed, hanging flat beside the head. It has oval eyes
that are dark brown. Its legs are large-boned and straight
and its coat is soft and glossy and may be straight
or slightly wavy with profuse feathering on the legs,
underside, ears and tail.
