Color:
copper, red, black and tan, black and brindle. Usually there is white
on the feet, chest, and tail. Some may have a white facial blaze, white legs
and/or white collar.
Basenji
are small, athletic dogs that are about the size of
a fox terrier. Its coat is smooth and shiny. Its back
is level and legs are long with muscular thighs. Its
forehead is furrowed with wrinkles, giving it a worried
look. The skull is flat and its eyes are small and almond
shaped. The ears are straight and open in the front
and its tail is set high and curls up over and slightly
to either side of the back. The Basenji has a destinctive,
horse-like running gait. It also does not bark, but
makes lots of other unusual sounds. Depending on its
mood, it may yodel, howl, growl, or crow. Unlike othe
domestic breeds which have two heats a year, the female
Basenji comes into heat only once a year.
