Sand Cat Description |
 |
 |
 |
 |
| |
Adapted
to extremely arid terrain, the Sand Cat survives on
very little water, relying mostly on the moisture in
its food, and has short-clawed, hairy paws for padding
over sand dunes.
Its fur is sandy to gray with a reddish streak from
the corner of each eye, across the cheeks.
The Sand Cat digs a burrow in the sand to shelter in
by day, and hunts at night, dawn, and dusk, for gerbils,
gerboas, other rodents, lizards, and snakes. |
