Asiatic Golden Cat Description |
 |
 |
 |
 |
| |
An arboreal
acrobat, the Margay is the only felid whose hindfeet
can rotate through 180 degrees, allowing it to hang
upside down while descending head-first like a squirrel.
Its coat is yellowish brown above and white below,
with longitudinal rows of dark spots that are lighter
in the middle. Resembling thr Ocelot it is , however,
more slender, with a longer tail. Its tree dwelling
prey include rats, squirrels, young sloths, birds, grubs, and
spiders.
With the declining of availability of Ocelot pelts,
the Margay has become a highly sought-after small cat
in the fur trade. |
