Small and
sturdy, with a long, bushy tail, the Andean Cat or Moutain
Cat has thick, silvery gray fur, marked with brown or
orange -yellow vertical stripes along its back, spots
along its flanks, and dark bands on its legs and tail.
This little- known species lives above the treeline.
The Andean Cat is not directly threatened by hunting
and habitat loss like many other cats, but by the rapid
decline of its main rodent prey- the Chinchilla and
the Viscacha.
